Clinical training

With nearly four decades of experience in psychotherapy training, SIP offers BPC-accredited clinical training in Psychodynamic and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy.

Our programmes are highly regarded for their depth, clinical rigour, and commitment to ethical and professional practice.

What kind of training are you looking for?

I’m interested in psychodynamic training

The Psychodynamic pathway enables trainees to work with adults up to twice/week.  Trainees often go on to work within organisations as well as in private practice. Work can be long or short term.

This training is suitable for qualified counsellors looking to take the next step in their career.

I’m interested in psychoanalytic training

The psychoanalytic pathway enables trainees to work intensively with adult patients, up to 3 times/week. The work is often long term over a number of months or years.

“Psychoanalytic therapy deepens awareness and self-understanding. This can enable personal growth and deeper fulfilment.” BPC

I’m a qualified counsellor or psychotherapist, and I want to deepen or modify my training

If you are a qualified child psychotherapist looking to train to work with adults or are a BPC registered Psychodynamic Psychotherapist looking to train in more intensive work, it may be possible to join the training at the curricular or post-curricular stage to gain registration as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist.

If you meet the entry requirements for the course and have at least 2 years clinical experience since qualification, please contact us to discuss this pathway.

Why train with SIP?

You will learn in small groups where you will be valued and supported. You will be taught by experienced, practicing psychotherapists, many of whom trained with SIP. Each seminar series is led by someone with expertise in that area, an understanding that comes from the application of theory in practice, and a desire to share their learning.

We have a full curriculum to challenge and inspire, which is reviewed annually to include the most relevant papers.  All curricular trainees learn together, creating a rich and diverse learning environment.

Your insights, questions and challenges are welcome. Our Consultation and Referral Service can help you find training patients. Clinical trainees enjoy the use of a consulting room in 11 Orchard St, and discounted rates on other therapy rooms.

Access to the SIP membership community, including events and CPD.
